His vision for his boys was not limited to success within the walls of the Yeshiva alone, but to shape young men who would grow into thoughtful husbands, dedicated fathers, committed Ovdei Hashem, and Bnei Torah who are integral to the community around them.
Working in partnership with the Rabbeim and Hanhala, Rabbi Yaffe helped shape a thriving yeshiva where expectations are clear, relationships are genuine, and boys are inspired to achieve growth. He focused on cultivating an environment where values are absorbed, internalized, and ultimately owned.
Today, Mesivta Ateres Yaakov is a yeshiva where commitment to Torah stands proudly alongside education, responsibility, and personal development. The standards are high, guidance is personal, and consistency takes hold, as the boys feel trusted and rise to meet that trust.
After 25 years of steady leadership, Rabbi Yaffe’s vision stands clearly realized. It’s apparent in the culture of the Yeshiva, reflected in its talmidim, and recognized by parents and alumni who appreciate what Rabbi Yaffe set out to build.
Parents of the Year: Mr. & Mrs. Miriam and Dovid Solomon
The Mesivta also honored a distinguished couple, Miriam and Dovid Solomon as Parents of the year. As the proud parents of Menachem (‘22) and Ari (‘27), the Solomons have seen Rabbi Yaffe’s vision come to life both in the Mesivta and within their own home. Few things speak more powerfully to that vision than a family that lives it each day, and the Solomons have been steadfast champions of it. The Solomons exemplify the partnership of a yeshiva has with parents in both, their children’s education as well as in support of the institution.
Alumnus of the Year: Mr. Yonatan Arshadnia (‘14)
Mr. Yonatan Arshadnia, a proud graduate of the Class of 2014, received the Alumnus of the Year award. Yonatan has maintained a close connection to his Rabbeim and to the Mesivta and is being recognized for his ongoing dedication to the institution that helped shape his path. Yonatan continues to carry the values of MAY into his home and professional life in Cedarhurst, where he and his wife, Sara, are raising their beautiful family.
