About MAY

Mesivta Ateres Yaakov, established in 1987, was named in honor of the Torah giant, Rav Yaakov Kamenetzky, זצ“ל. The Mesivta has grown steadily from a dozen students in rented space in Lynbrook to a top-ranked, competitive, and full-featured Mesivta with nearly 200 students, enrichment programs, a community minyan, community learning programs, and more.

Originally a part of the Yeshiva of South Shore, the Mesivta became a financially and administratively independent institution in 2003, leasing a building owned by its former parent. Under the guidance of its Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Mordechai Yaffe, Ph.D., the Mesivta has emerged as a leading yeshiva high school in the Five Towns area, famous for its warm caring Rabbeim, its top-notch learning programs, and its superior general studies education, serving young men primarily from the Five Towns, Far Rockaway, Queens and Brooklyn communities.

The Mesivta provides an extremely robust and wide-ranging Limudei Kodesh and general studies curriculum, with the goal of preparing its students for advanced Torah learning, higher education, family, and productive careers.
